Box Score

Thompson Rivers didn't lead at any point during the first four quarters, but pulled ahead of the Regina Cougars with a 13-3 run in overtime and held on for a 100-95 victory on Thursday in Canada West men's basketball at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.

The Cougars had a shot at the buzzer to win in regulation, but Will Tallman's three-pointer from the wing rimmed out. Tallman scored the first bucket of overtime, but that would turn out to be the final lead of the game for the Cougars as TRU went on its big run to go up eight.

The U of R brought it back to a one-possession game on three occasions in the last minute of overtime, but weren't able to draw any closer as Thompson Rivers hit all six of its free throws in the final 60 seconds to seal the win.

Thompson Rivers (7-4) had five players score at least 15 points in the win. Josh Wolfram came off the bench to tie for the game high with 19 points, while Tallon Milne had 17, Reese Pribilsky scored 16, and both Will Ondrik and Troy Grant ended up with 15 points. Wolfram added a game-high nine rebounds to fall just short of the double-double.

Rookie guard Brandon Tull led the Cougars (2-9) with 19 points, while Brendan Hebert scored 17 and led all players with eight assists. Tallman finished with 16 points and eight rebounds and Travis Sylvestre scored 12 points in a spirited 13 minutes off the bench for the U of R. Wesley Jones was a force on the defensive side of the ball with five blocks.

The Cougars will prepare for home game on Friday night against UBC Okanagan (2-8), while TRU travels to Brandon for a road game against the 2-8 Bobcats.
