The University of Regina's men's basketball team opened up its non-conference schedule with setbacks to Winnipeg and Manitoba on Friday and Saturday in Winnipeg.
The Cougars lost 71-59 to Winnipeg on Friday at St. Paul's HS in Winnipeg.
Will Tallman and Cuesta College transfer
Alex Igual led the Cougars with 10 points each, while Tallman also pulled down nine rebounds to fall just short of a double-double.

Brandon Tull, and
Jonathan Tull all had eight points for Regina, while Jordan Clennon led the Wesmen with 18.
Saturday saw the Cougars fall 88-70 to Manitoba, with most of the damage done by the Bisons in a second quarter in which they outscored Regina by a 25-6 margin to take a commanding lead at halftime. Andre Arruda led all players with 25 points for Manitoba in the victory, while
Travis Sylvestre was 8-for-13 from the field and scored a team-high 16 points for the Cougars in 23 minutes off the bench.
Jonathan Tull and Tallman added 13 for the Cougars, while
Brandon Tull scored 11.
The Cougars will embark on their familiar three-game October road swing against NAIA opposition this weekend. They'll take on Dickinson State on Friday, Mayville State on Saturday, and Jamestown College on Sunday before returning to Regina. The Cougars will also play three non-conference games against OUA teams in a tournament hosted by Brock the following weekend before beginning Canada West play on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 at Victoria.
