SATURDAY: vs. MacEwan, 12:00 p.m. (U of R Field)
SUNDAY: vs. MacEwan, 12:00 p.m. (U of R Field)
The University of Regina women's soccer team is set to square off against the MacEwan University Griffins for a pair of home games this weekend.
The Cougars, who are coming off their bye week, sit in fifth place in a crowded Prairie Division. With only the top four teams of each Canada West division making the playoffs, Regina will need to steal some points from the Griffins (6-1-1) to strengthen their playoff chances.
The last action the Cougars had was on Sept. 27 and 28, when they took four of a possible six points against the Calgary Dinos who were ranked No. 8 in the country at the time.
The Cougars (4-2-2) offensive charge has been led by
Veronica Boesch and
Sarah Moroziuk, who have three goals each. Regina has seen very strong defensive play from veterans
Racquel Marshall and
Molly Glass.
Rachel Taylor,
Kayla McDonald and
Karlee Vorrieter have been solid on both ends of the pitch for the Cougars.
Kacey McFee has been solid in net for Regina, starting all eight games for the team.Â
The Griffins have only allowed two goals this season, both of which came in a 2-0 loss to Calgary on Sept. 14. MacEwan's strong defence is backed by second-year goalkeeper Rebecca Reif, who is yet to allow a goal this season on 23 shots faced.
Both games are set for noon kick-offs at the U of R Field.
