SATURDAY: vs. Alberta, 12:00 p.m. (U of R Field)
SUNDAY: vs. Mount Royal, 12:00 p.m. (U of R Field)

After opening its Canada West schedule with a pair of games in Winnipeg last weekend, the University of Regina women's soccer team is to play at home for the first time in 2014 this Saturday and Sunday.

The Cougars split their road games on the weekend, losing 2-1 to the University of Manitoba Bisons on Friday, and defeating the University of Winnipeg Wesmen 3-2 on Saturday.

With their 1-1 record, the Cougars are tied for sixth place in the 16-team Canada West standings heading into the weekend.

Fourth-year forward Veronica Boesch collected a goal and an assist in Saturday's win, along with an assist on Friday. Rookie midfielder Sarah Moroziuk had a goal and an assist in Saturday's match. Other Cougars who have appeared on the scoresheet are Adriana McCullough and Olivia Bolen, who have each found the back of the net once.

The Cougars will play host to the University of Alberta Pandas (0-1-1) on Saturday. The Pandas fell four spots to No. 7 in the CIS rankings after they fell 2-0 to the University of Calgary in the opener, then tied Lethbridge 0-0.

Mount Royal (1-0-1) defeated Lethbridge 3-1 in their opener, then played Calgary to a scoreless draw.

"Both teams are very well-organized and well-coached, and we will have to be on top of our game mentally and physically to compete with them," Cougars head coach Bob Maltman said. "We've been working diligently to make consistent and smart choices to help us keep momentum, and we look forward to good competition on both days."

Both matches are set to kick off at noon at the U of R Field.
