Video WebcastLive StatsAt home for the first time since Canada West play started, the University of Regina's women's basketball team will play host to the Lethbridge Pronghorns this Friday and Saturday at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.

After opening the conference schedule with a pair of road wins over Brandon two weekends ago, the Cougars sit at 2-0 for the year and enter Friday's game as one of three undefeated teams remaining in Canada West's Pioneer Division. The others are Alberta and Saskatchewan, both at 4-0.
Â
After the weekend sweep over Brandon, the conference honoured
Charlotte Kot by naming her the Canada West Second Star of the Week. Kot averaged a double-double in the 72-58 and 64-48 road wins, ending up with 34 points and 20 rebounds over the two games. Though it's still early, Kot is fourth in Canada West in scoring and is one of just three players in the conference to average at least 10 rebounds per game.
Kot is one of two fourth-year starters on the Cougars, the other being guard
Katie Polischuk. The rest of the projected starting five is all fifth-years, including guards
Kehlsie Crone and
Sidney Dobner and post
Alyssia Kajati. A member of the Canada West All-Rookie Team last season,
Christina McCusker led the Cougars in bench minutes against Brandon while
Britton Belyk and
Sara Hubenig also averaged double figures in minutes played for the U of R.
Â
Lethbridge has had essentially the same schedule as the Cougars this season, starting off with a bye weekend before playing Brandon twice last weekend. Brandon came out on top in both of those games, winning 83-63 and 82-54 over the Pronghorns. Lethbridge third-year guard Zoe Dahl was 7-for-17 from three-point land and scored 27 points in that series, while second-year guard Kendra Lee was 4-for-11 from the perimeter as the Pronghorns attempted 56 triples over the two contests.
Â
After this weekend, the Cougars will have a pair of key road matchups at Alberta on Nov. 27 and Nov. 28 before finishing off the first half of the Canada West schedule against Winnipeg at the CKHS on Dec. 4 and Dec. 5.
Â
NOTES: Kajati has 457 career rebounds and needs just one more to move past Lara Schmidt (2001-06) for ninth on the school's all-time list ... Crone is closing in on Megan Cherkas (2004-09) on the U of R's career assists chart, needing just 10 more to pass Cherkas for eighth in school history.
