The University of Regina's women's volleyball team suffered a 25-20, 25-14, 25-17 defeat to the UBC Thunderbirds on Friday night in Vancouver.

The loss drops the Cougars' record to 7-16 on the season, while UBC improves to 12-11 and pulls into a tie for sixth place in the Canada West standings with Manitoba. The win clinches a playoff berth for UBC, as eighth-place MacEwan (11-12) can't catch the T-Birds even if the Griffins finish with 12 wins on the year.

Danielle Brisebois had a match-high 10 kills for UBC, while Lisa Barclay had nine and both Abbey Keeping and Rosie Schlagintweit collected eight. Setter Alessandra Gentile had 30 assists, while libero Juliana Kaufmanis led all players with eight digs.

Mackenzie Timmerman got her first start in a Canada West match and had 21 assists for the Cougars, while libero
