Canada West kill leader Iuliia Pakhomenko had 10 kills and Morgan Kolasa added eight kills and six blocks as Thompson Rivers scored a three-set win over the University of Regina in women's volleyball action on Friday night at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.
Pakhomenko also had eight digs, four aces, and three blocks to go along with her 10 kills, while Kolasa's six blocks led all players.
Thompson Rivers won by scores of 25-16, 25-22, and 25-18 as the WolfPack improve to 8-9 on the season. The only set TRU didn't have complete control of was the second, and even then the visitors had a 21-13 lead before a 9-3 run by the Cougars got them to within two. But Thompson Rivers pulled out the victory on its fifth attempt at set point to take a commanding 2-0 lead in the match.
Besides Pakhomenko and Kolasa, Thompson Rivers also had significant contributions from Brianne Rauch, Alyssa Wolf, and Katie Woo. Rauch had seven kills and led all players with six service aces, while Wolf tied Pakhomenko for the team high with eight digs and Woo finished with 24 assists, six digs, and four kills.
