Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Saskatchewan defeats Cougars in four sets

The University of Regina's women's volleyball team squared up the match after a rough first set, but couldn't continue that momentum in a four-set loss to Saskatchewan on Friday night in a Canada West match in Saskatoon.

Saskatchewan opened up the match with a 25-15 win in the first set, but the Cougars came roaring back to win the second by a 25-14 margin while hitting .318 as a team. But they couldn't keep it rolling after that, as the Huskies cruised to 25-17 and 25-16 wins to improve to 9-14 on the season.

Taylor Annala had 10 kills to lead Saskatchewan, while Emmalyn Copping had nine and Sabrina Balisky chipped in with seven kills to go along with eight digs. Jina Barker added 28 assists and six digs, while libero Jennifer Hueser had nine digs.

Three Cougars tied for the team lead in kills, including Tori Glynn, Ashlee Sandiford, and Molly Wade-Cummings. Glynn also had 11 digs in her penultimate match with the Cougars, while Wade-Cummings added a match-high four blocks. Jenna Krahn finished just back with seven kills for the Cougars, who fall to 1-22 with the loss.

The two teams will meet again on Saturday night in Saskatoon to close out the weekend series.
