The University of Regina women's soccer team is back in action this weekend, hitting the road to match up against Mount Royal University and the Grant MacEwan Griffins.
The Cougars are coming off a weekend in which they earned four out of a possible six points, defeating the Winnipeg Wesmen 1-0 before playing the Manitoba Bisons to a scoreless draw.
Karlee Vorrieter scored the winner against Winnipeg in the 82nd minute, her first goal of the Canada West season.
Brianna Wright also has one goal on the season, having scored against Fraser Valley in the Cougars' opener.
Nikita Senko (pictured) assisted on both Vorrieter's and Wright's goals.
It was a busy week for Cougar keeper
Ashton Lowry, who was named the Canada West female first star of the week on Tuesday, and the CIS female athlete of the week on Thursday. Lowry made four saves against Winnipeg for her first career Canada West win and five more against Manitoba for back-to-back clean sheets.
The Cougars sit in third place in Canada West's Prairie Division heading into the weekend, sporting a 1-1-2 record. MacEwan is part of a three-way tie for fourth at 1-2-1 while MRU sits at 1-3-0 through four games.
Kick-off on Saturday goes at 11 a.m., while Sunday's match against GMU is set for noon.
