Cougars suffer three-set road loss to Thompson Rivers

The University of Regina's women's volleyball team suffered a three-set loss to Thompson Rivers on Friday night in Canada West action at the Tournament Capital Centre in Kamloops, B.C.

TRU won by scores of 25-16, 25-14, and 25-18 to notch its seventh Canada West win of the season.

Canada West kills per set leader Iuliaa Pakhomenko had a match-leading 13 kills for Thompson Rivers, while Rachel Windhorst added 10. Mikayla Funk and Morgan Kolasa chipped in offensively with seven kills and six kills, respectively, while setter Abby Spratt had 32 assists while running a TRU offence that hit .387 in the win.

Thompson Rivers improves to 7-8 with the win and now sit in sixth place in the conference standings. The WolfPack are one win up on Mount Royal, which currently holds the seventh and final Canada West postseason berth with about two-thirds of the season in the books.

Diana Lumbala had a team-leading 10 kills for the Cougars, who fall to 3-14 with the loss.

The two teams will play again on Saturday night (5:00 PT) in Kamloops.
