TEAM OVERVIEWS
REGINA – The Cougars are now ranked No. 1 in the nation after last weekend's two road wins over Manitoba, combined with McGill's season-opening loss at home to Laval that dropped the Martlets down to No. 3 in the national poll. The Cougars started out the year with a road loss to McGill, but since then have won 11 consecutive games over U SPORTS opposition including 85-48 and 72-69 wins over the Bisons in Winnipeg. Regina will be playing without first-year guard
Carolina Goncalves, who is currently with Portugal's senior national team for its upcoming EuroBasket Women 2019 qualification games against Greece and Israel.

FRASER VALLEY – The Cascades went 1-6 over a tough seven-game non-conference schedule which included three contests against teams currently ranked in the U SPORTS Top 10 – one against No. 4-ranked Carleton, and two against No. 8 Alberta. The other four games were all against teams picked to finish in the top nine of the 17-team Canada West conference, including a home split with Victoria and losses to both Brandon and Victoria. Fraser Valley holds a 2-2 conference record after starting the Canada West schedule with a pair of road losses to UBC, but scoring two home wins over Mount Royal just last weekend in Abbotsford.

ALL-TIME SERIES
This weekend will mark the first times that the Cougars and the Cascades have met during the regular season since Jan. 31, 2014. The Cougars scraped out a 64-62 win that day over a Cascades team that was ranked No. 7 in the CIS at the time, thanks in large part to a Katie Polischuk three that broke a tie with 30 seconds left. Though the teams haven't played a Canada West game against each other since then, they've met in non-conference games in 2014, 2015, and 2016 (all wins for Regina) and also in the 2015 postseason, with the Cougars winning two straight in Abbotsford to take a best-of-three Canada West play-in series. Regina holds a 7-2 all-time advantage over UFV in conference play and is a perfect 4-0 against the Cascades in the postseason.
