TEAM OVERVIEWS
REGINA – The Cougars were dominant last weekend in two wins over Brandon, setting a program record for points in a game with Friday's 118-51 win and completing the weekend sweep with a 92-73 victory on Saturday. Regina now has a 10-game winning streak and the best record in Canada West at 15-1, but are still ranked second in the conference in RPI behind Saskatchewan even though the Huskies (14-2) split with Trinity Western last weekend in Saskatoon. Kyanna Giles continued her sensational sophomore season for the Cougars, piling up 45 points, 16 rebounds, nine steals, and six assists in the two wins. Giles leads Regina in both points per game (16.7) and rebounds per game (8.1) this year. After this weekend, the Cougars will finish off the Canada West schedule with two big games against provincial rival Saskatchewan in Saskatoon.

WINNIPEG – Like the Cougars, Winnipeg (12-4) is also riding a 10-game winning streak after consecutive weekend sweeps over Fraser Valley, UBC, MacEwan, Brandon, and this past weekend over Manitoba. The Cougars will have to deal with Antoinette Miller, who's having a sensational final season with the Wesmen after being named the Canada West MVP, a first-team All-Canadian, and the U SPORTS Defensive Player of the Year last year. Miller is Canada West's runaway leader with an average of 26.3 points per game – no other player is averaging more than 19 – and also leads the conference in both three-point percentage (44.8%) and steals (60), averages nine rebounds per game, and has a team-leading 87 assists on the season. Also a major contributor for Winnipeg, Faith Hezekiah averages 16.3 points and is third in Canada West with an average of 11.5 rebounds per game. Winnipeg will close out the regular season next weekend with a pair of home games against UBC Okanagan.

McCUSKER DOUBTFUL
Fourth-year post Christina McCusker suffered a lower-body injury in the third quarter of Brandon's win and is considered doubtful for the two games against Winnipeg. Third-year forward Alexi Rowden got her first career start on Saturday with McCusker out, collecting four points and eight rebounds in 22 minutes on the floor.

FIFTH-YEAR NIGHT
The Cougars will recognize the contributions of three fifth-year players following Saturday's game. Sara Hubenig, Charlotte Kot, and Caitlin Zacharias will all play in their final conference home games this weekend for the U of R.

LAST YEAR
The two teams met three times last season, starting with a two-game split in Winnipeg where the Cougars won 83-67 on Feb. 3 before the Wesmen came back with a 62-58 victory the following night. They played the rubber match a month later at the Canada West Final Four in Saskatoon, which Regina won 81-70 to advance to the conference championship game and lock up a berth to the U SPORTS Championship.

QUOTABLE: COACH TAYLOR
Keys to the weekend – "Their points per possession in transition is extremely high. If they get easy runouts and easy scores on us, they're going to put up a ton of points and be very difficult for us to beat. They're also one of the best teams in the country on the offensive glass, so we're also going to have to rebound the ball effectively if we're going to be successful. Winnipeg will be a tough opponent for us this weekend."
