Game Recap: Men's Hockey |

Late outburst not enough as Cougars lose 7-5 to Lethbridge

The University of Regina exploded for four unanswered goals in the third period, but it wasn't enough as Lethbridge completed the men's hockey weekend sweep with a 7-5 win on Saturday afternoon in Lethbridge.

The Cougars trailed 6-1 after two and Lethbridge added another one early in the third to go up six and while Regina then got goals from Tate Coughlin, Tanner Campbell, Ben Duperreault, and Conner Chaulk it was too little, too late as the Pronghorns held on for the win.

Kyle Gordon scored a pair for Lethbridge while Danny Gatenby, Russell Maxwell, Ryan Chynoweth, Luke Coleman, and Michael Grant also scored. Gordon added an assist for a three-point night while Dallas Valentine, Dalton Sward, and Michael Clarke all had a pair of helpers.

Tristan Frei had the other goal for the Cougars, a second-period marker.

Regina held an advantage in shots for the second consecutive night, outshooting Lethbridge 41-27 including 20-3 in the third period alone. Taz Burman stopped 36 of 41 shots for Lethbridge as he registered his second win in as many days.

Curtis Meger got the start for the Cougars, but gave way to Brandon Holtby after the fourth Lethbridge goal.

Coming up next for the Cougars (0-4-0) is a second consecutive road weekend as they'll head to the West Coast for a pair of games against UBC.
