The University of Regina's women's volleyball team played three tight sets with Thompson Rivers, but all three of them ended with the WolfPack pulling away after the technical timeout as TRU took a three-set win over the Cougars on Friday afternoon in Kamloops, B.C.
TRU took a 25-23 win in the first set, then won the second and third by identical scores of 25-22 to improve to 6-1 on the season.
The WolfPack were led by Kendra Finch, who was the only player to end up with double-digit kills as she finished with 10 while also tying teammate Hali Drezet for the match lead with 13 digs. Olge Savenchuk added seven kills and five blocks for TRU, while Kseniya Kocyigit added six kills and put up a match-high seven blocks.
Three players paced the visitors with eight kills apiece as
Britt Davis,
Diana Lumbala, and
Brittany Rousseaux all tied for the team lead. Davis also had a team-high 11 digs, while
Emma Matheson's four blocks led Regina (1-6).
The two teams will meet again on Saturday in Kamloops. First serve is again set for 12:00 PM (PST).
