The top-ranked Saskatchewan Huskies completed a women's basketball weekend sweep over the Regina Cougars with a 74-45 victory on Saturday night in Saskatoon.
Sabine Dukate lit it up for Saskatchewan, hitting five three-pointers and scoring a game-high 24 points to help the Huskies improve to 6-0 on the season. Summer Masikewich added 13 points and seven rebounds for the U of S.
Faith Reid led the Cougars (3-5) with 16 points.
After a quiet first quarter that saw the two teams combine for just 17 points, Saskatchewan outscored the Cougars 20-8 to take a 30-15 lead at the half. The two teams then scored more points in the third quarter than they did in the entire first half, with the Huskies outscoring Regina 28-20 to push their lead to 23. Saskatchewan's lead never fell below 20 during the final quarter.
The Cougars will now get ready for their final two games of the first half of the Canada West schedule, as they'll host Alberta next Friday and Saturday night at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.
