QUICKLY
• Regina and Saskatchewan will battle in Saskatoon in what will be a rematch of the Week 3 game which saw the Huskies pull out a narrow 11-10 win in Regina at Mosaic Stadium.

• The Rams were ranked No. 6 heading into the Alberta game, but fell to No. 7 in last week's poll despite their victory over the Golden Bears before dropping one more spot to No. 8 this week.

• Rams DL Anthony Bennett is on the cusp of history as he has moved into a tie for the school single-season sacks mark with three games still left to play.

BENNETT CHASING HISTORY: DL Anthony Bennett had a solo sack and a shared sack in the Alberta win, giving him 6.5 sacks for the season and pulling him into a tie for the University of Regina single-season record with Akiem Hicks (2011) and Nicholas Dheilly (2017). And he's also closing in on the U of R's tackles for loss record, as he's up to 8.5 already and is just two shy of the record of 10.5 set by both Logan Brooks and Stefan Charles in 2011. On the U SPORTS national leaderboard, Bennett sits second in sacks (Montreal's Nicky Farinaccio has 8.5) and fourth in tackles for loss.

TIEBREAKERS: The Rams would move past Saskatchewan into first place in the Canada West standings with a victory of two points or more on Saturday. A one-point win for the Rams would tie them with the U of S on Canada West's first two tiebreakers (head-to-head record and head-to-head points scored) but Saskatchewan has a significant advantage in the third tiebreaker. The Huskies have outscored their opposition by 81 points this year, while the Rams have 25 more points scored than points conceded.

NO PLACE LIKE HOME: With a playoff berth already locked up, the Rams will now be looking to secure their first postseason home game since the 2017 season. They could clinch a top-two finish as early as Saturday, but would need a win over the Huskies combined with a UBC victory over Manitoba.

AWARD WINNERS: The Rams took home some weekly hardware following the Alberta win. DL Anthony Bennett earned his third Canada West Defensive Player of the Week award of the season, while K Aldo Galvan was named the Canada West Special Teams Player of the Week and then became the first Rams player in over a decade to earn U SPORTS Special Teams Player of the Week recognition.

PROTECT THIS HOUSE: Offensive line coach Sheldon Neald and assistants Travis Serke and Roe Borgmann have to be pleased with that group's performance through five games so far. The Rams have surrendered just one sack this season, and that came in the opener at Manitoba. The line has stayed intact for most of the year with OL Matthew Hajewich at left tackle, OL Damon Iron at left guard, OL Maguire Abell at centre, OL Parker Hodel at right guard, and OL Joel Braden at right tackle. OL William Templeton, a rookie right out of Campbell Collegiate, filled in ably at centre for an injured Abell last time out against Alberta.

VARGA LEADING THE WAY: LB Ryder Varga forced another fumble in the Alberta win and now has three on the season, which ties for the U of R single-season record along with five other former Rams including most recently Cole Benkic in 2018. Varga is also the team's leader with 30.5 tackles and has five tackles for loss, a sack, an interception, and a fumble recovery. Safe to say the third-round pick of the BC Lions is having a sensational fourth season with the Rams.

ALDO UPDATE: K Aldo Galvan punted seven times in the Alberta win, averaging 52.6 yards per punt and pinning the Golden Bears inside their own 20-yard line on four of his seven punts. He's now averaging 46.7 yards per punt, which ranks second in the nation and is the highest single-season average in U of R history (current Edmonton Elks punter Jon Ryan averaged 45.9 yards per punt in 2003).

SAVARD TAKES OVER: RB Olivier Savard has handled the bulk of the ground game for the Rams the past two games. He has piled up 38 carries for 167 yards and a pair of touchdowns since RB Christian Katende was injured during the U of R's first offensive possession of the Week 4 win at UBC. Katende is considered questionable for Saturday's game in Saskatoon.

SACK ATTACK: The Rams added three more sacks in the Alberta win including one by DL Anthony Bennett, a strip sack by LB Ryder Varga, and a shared sack between Bennett and DL Garth Knittig. The Rams continue to lead Canada West with 14 sacks on the year and remain on pace to threaten the U of R single-season team record for sacks in a single season (23 in 2011).

UNDER CENTRE: Last time out, Rams rookie QB Noah Pelletier had what was arguably his best game since his scintillating Week 1 debut against Manitoba. He completed 20 of his 34 passes for 227 yards and led the Rams on a late 11-play, 77-yard drive that ended with a field goal and chewed 4:42 off the clock, leaving the Golden Bears with a five-point deficit and just 40 seconds remaining.

IRON MAN: The most experienced player on the Rams roster is DB Zach Moore, who (including the postseason) has played in 35 career games and has started 34 consecutive games at halfback. Moore is seventh on the team in tackles and has a pair of pass breakups this season.

PASS CATCHERS: WR Riley Boersma, SB Bennett Stusek, and SB D'Sean Mimbs lead a talented group of receivers. Boersma has a team-high 27 catches for 238 yards, while Stusek has caught 20 passes for a team-leading 364 yards and Mimbs has 19 receptions for 291 yards. Stusek and Mimbs have combined to catch all five of QB Noah Pelletier's touchdown passes this year, as Stusek has three touchdown receptions and Mimbs has two.

SPREADING IT AROUND: Three Rams made their first receptions of the season in the Alberta win, with two of those coming on the U of R's critical final possession as both RB Semba Mbasela and SB Ethan Marshall hauled in passes from QB Noah Pelletier. WR Matt Rivers was also credited with his first reception of the year earlier in the game. It was the first career catch for both Marshall and Rivers, while Mbasela's reception was his first since the 2019 campaign.
