Rams drop Week 2 decision at Saskatchewan

QUICKLY
The Saskatchewan Huskies got off to a quick start and cruised to a 40-6 victory over the University of Regina Rams on Friday night in Saskatoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Saskatchewan got rolling with touchdowns on its first three possessions of the game to take a 21-0 lead in the opening quarter, then added another touchdown and a field goal to open up a 31-0 advantage at the half.
  • The Rams scored what would turn out to be their only points of the game after a big special teams play. After Michael Eagle Bear jarred the ball loose on a punt return and Carson Sombach pounced on it, Noah Pelletier hit Bennett Stusek, Emmett Steadman, and Dallen Keen for first downs then ran it in himself from three yards out for a touchdown.
  • Saskatchewan replied later in the third quarter with a major, and neither team scored in the fourth with the game already decided.

RAMS HIGHLIGHTS
  • D'Sean Mimbs had another solid game offensively for the Rams, finishing with 4 catches for 83 yards.
  • Jackson Sombach had his second career interception as he capitalized on a ball thrown over the middle following heavy pressure from Brayden Wagg.
  • Aldo Galvan had another strong game, punting 7 times for an average of 49.7 yards per punt.
  • Cameron Mah and Toryn Swystun-Bernes shared a sack in the fourth quarter.

NEXT UP
The Rams are back home next Saturday for a Week 3 game against Calgary. Kickoff is set for 2:00 PM at Mosaic Stadium.
