QUICKLY
Just one night after narrowly escaping with a five-set victory, the UBC Okanagan Heat took out the Regina Cougars in straight sets on Saturday night at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- UBC Okanagan opened up the match with a 25-18 win in the first set and followed that up with a 25-17 victory in the second.
- The Cougars looked to be on the way to forcing a fourth set after going up 24-20 in the third, but the Heat successfully reeled off six consecutive points with Amaya Perry on serve to secure the sweep. UBC Okanagan clinched the match with Olivia Tymkiw's 19th kill of the night.
NOTES
- Besides Tymkiw's 19 kills, UBC Okanagan (9-11) also got 10 from Natalie Funk.
- Bailey Balaberda led Regina offensively with nine kills. Cassadi Klapak had 15 assists and a match-high 13 digs.
NEXT UP
The Cougars finish off the season with a road series at Mount Royal next weekend before hosting Winnipeg on Feb. 16 and Feb. 17 at the CKHS.
