QUICKLY
• The Rams opened up the season with a 24-16 road victory over Calgary on Friday in a game which saw QB Noah Pelletier come off the bench to complete 14 of his 19 pass attempts.

• Saskatchewan started 2024 with a Saturday game at Manitoba. The Bisons scored on their first possession and opened up a 22-0 first-half lead before cruising to a 37-24 win over the Huskies.

• All six Canada West teams will be in action on Friday night. Calgary visits Alberta and Manitoba is at UBC with both of those games scheduled to kick off at the exact same time as the Rams/Huskies clash in Regina.

U-PRAIRIE CHALLENGE: Kicked off in 2022, the U-Prairie Challenge presented by SaskMilk is an all-sports battle between the University of Regina and the University of Saskatchewan featuring the 11 varsity sports the two schools both compete in. The Rams and the Huskies clash in football, women's soccer, men's and women's cross country, men's and women's basketball, men's and women's hockey, women's volleyball, and men's and women's track & field. Each sport is worth a total of four points, so two points will go to the winner of Friday's game and two points to the winner of the Oct. 19 game in Saskatoon.

UNDER CENTRE: QB Owen Sieben was injured in the second quarter of last week's win over Calgary, but QB Noah Pelletier came in and was brilliant in relief. Pelletier completed 14 of his 19 pass attempts for a career-high completion percentage (73.7%) and finished the game with 125 passing yards and a 1-yard rushing touchdown. Sieben isn't expected to return in time for Friday's game, which means the Rams will dress agile lefty QB Trey Jones as the backup.

LOOKING FOR 2-0: The Rams are looking to start the season with wins in their first two games for the second time in four seasons under the direction of head coach Mark McConkey. The Rams also started the season at 2-0 in 2022 with wins over Manitoba and Calgary.

PICK CITY: The Rams picked off a total of three passes all of last season, but three different players collected their first U SPORTS interception in the Week 1 win as LB Garret Hatchard, LB Cameron Mah, and DB Max Polischuk all picked off Calgary starter Dom Britton. Hatchard was also heavily involved in Polischuk's interception, as he deflected a Britton pass right to a diving Polischuk for the pick. The Rams go into Week 2 tied with St. Francis Xavier for the U SPORTS lead in interceptions per game.

TOUGH D: The Rams turned in a fine defensive performance in their Week 1 win, limiting Calgary to just 30 rushing yards and a 40% completion rate. They held the Dinos to two points in the opening three quarters - which came off a pair of rouges in the game's opening two minutes - before Calgary was finally able to score a pair of touchdowns in the fourth.

NEW LOOK RAMS: The Rams unveiled their new Under Armour uniforms earlier this week on social media and will debut the new look on Friday night. The Rams now have green and white UA jerseys and green and white UA pants, and will wear some combination of those in Week 2.

PASS CATCHERS: SB Kenton Appel, SB D'Sean Mimbs, and WR Nicholas Sirleaf combined to catch 16 of Regina's 20 passes in Week 1. Appel led all players with 7 receptions and finished with 60 yards, while Sirleaf caught his first 4 Canada West passes for a team-leading 71 yards. Mimbs ended up with 5 catches for 38 yards.

AT RB: As expected, the Rams dressed four running backs for Week 1 as RB Marshall Erichsen, RB Jevon Garwood, RB Christian Katende, and RB Olivier Savard all suited up. Garwood and Savard got the bulk of the carries, with Garwood ending up with 8 rushes for 50 yards and Savard finishing with 11 carries for 46 yards.

TEAM CAPTAINS: The Rams have seven captains this season including LB Cameron Mah, LB Chopper Hippe, QB Noah Pelletier, DB Jackson Sombach, RB Christian Katende, OL Connor Klassen, OL Parker Hodel, and SB Rylan Sokul.

DRAFT REPORT: The Rams had two players selected in the 2024 CFL Draft. SB D'Sean Mimbs went in the sixth round to the Saskatchewan Roughriders with the 50th overall selection, while DB Jackson Sombach was taken in the seventh round (60th overall) by the Calgary Stampeders. Both players are back with the Rams this season. LB Chopper Hippe, OL Connor Klassen, and DB Dolani Robinson all participated in the U SPORTS East-West Bowl earlier this year. This year's East-West Bowl was a showcase which featured (for the most part) players available for selection in the 2025 CFL Draft.

RAMS TERRITORY: This year's roster features a total of 98 players, 66 of whom call Saskatchewan home. The Rams also have 15 Albertans, 9 from British Columbia, 4 from Ontario, 1 from Manitoba (DL Praise Odogun), 1 from Quebec (RB Olivier Savard), 1 from Arizona (DB Cedric McCallum), and 1 from Washington (DL Maliq Washington).

DEBUTS: Eight Rams made their Canada West debut in Week 1 as OL Nick Makowsky, OL Nnadozie Marendiukobianwa, OL Riley Schick, WR Nicholas Sirleaf, LB Demar Hohnstein, DB Cedric McCallum, DL Praise Odogun, and DL Tarick Polius all suited up. Eight more are expected to play their first Canada West game in Week 2 including SB Renzel Arinaza (Terry Fox Secondary), OL Logan Hubick (Regina Thunder), QB Trey Jones (Langley Rams), DB Michael Jourdan (Okanagan Sun), LB Liam LaBelle (Dr. Martin LeBoldus HS), DB Rylar Sombach, DL Maliq Washington (Langley Rams), and LB Owen Zimmer (Luther College HS).
