Women's Soccer
The Cougars hit the road for the first time in the 2025 Canada West regular season, visiting Edmonton for matchups against the MacEwan Griffins and Alberta Pandas.
The Cougars suffered a 6-0 setback on Saturday against MacEwan before setting their sights on Alberta for Sunday's match. Regina surrendered the opening goal in the 40th minute before responding thanks to Hannah Wol-Harden's first career Canada West goal on a beauty of a header in the 54th minute. The hometown Pandas would break the tie in the 74th to secure the win.
The Cougars (1-4-1) will return to action next weekend with road matches against the Lethbridge Pronghorns (0-5-1).
Women's Hockey
The Cougars visited Yorkton, Sask. for a pair of non-conference games this weekend, taking on the Saskatchewan Huskies on Friday before a Sunday matinee against the Manitoba Bisons.Â
Rookie forward Brooke Fofonoff score the Cougars' lone goal in a 2-1 loss to the Huskies. Fifth-year forward Shaylee Scraba scored two regulation goals against the Bisons on Sunday, before Cassidy Peters netted the shootout winner to give the Cougars a 3-2 win. Amy Swayze made 27 saves on Friday and 36 in Sunday's win.
The Cougars will head to Saskatoon next weekend for more pre-season tuneups against MacEwan (Friday, 5:00 p.m.) and Team Sask (Saturday, 2:00 p.m.).
Men's Hockey
The Cougars took to The Co-operators Centre ice for their first action under new head coach Trevor Keeper, taking on Manitoba for a pair of pre-season games.
Friday's matchup was a shootout, with Manitoba taking a 6-5 overtime win. Paycen Bjorklund, Kade Runke, Parker Jasper, Carter Belitski, and Jaxon Steele netted goals for the Cougars. Manitoba came away with another win on Saturday, this time a 2-1 victory in a shootout. Bjorklund scored again for the Cougars.
Regina will square off against the Bisons again next weekend, with two matchups on the docket in Winnipeg on Friday and Saturday.
