Box Score

The University of Regina Rams improved to 2-2 on the season after recording a 28-17 road victory over the UBC Thunderbirds on Saturday afternoon in Vancouver.

The Rams took an early lead with 15 unanswered points in the first quarter, including two Perri Scarcelli field goals and a seven-yard touchdown run by Cale Inglis. Spencer Betts caught a 19-yard pass for a major early in the second quarter to cut the lead to eight, but that was as close as the Thunderbirds would come.

Two more Scarcelli field goals gave the Rams a 14-point lead at halftime, and a Jordan Sisco touchdown reception late in the third quarter put the Rams up 28-10 going into the final frame. Betts capped off the scoring with his second touchdown reception of the game five minutes into the second quarter.

Inglis led the Rams with 87 rushing yards, while Graham Mosiondz had nine carries for 55 yards. Marc Mueller completed 17 of his 36 passes for 202 yards, with Sisco checking in as his top receiver with six catches for 75 yards. Brenden Owens had four catches for 72 yards.

The Rams defence scored four sacks during the ball game, with Bruce Anderson, Ryan Wellman, Bjorn Person, and Blake Johnson each victimizing UBC quarterback Billy Greene. Playing in front of friends and family from nearby Port Moody, Anderson also recorded five total tackles and one of the Rams' three interceptions on the day. Jamir Walker and Steve Famulak also had picks for Regina.

Greene completed 20 of his 34 passes for 296 yards and two touchdowns, but also threw three interceptions for the Thunderbirds. UBC's Dave Boyd registered a game-high 89 rushing yards.

The Rams will have a bye week in preparation for their next game, scheduled for Friday, Oct. 9 against Simon Fraser (2-2) at Mosaic Stadium.
