The University of Regina's women's volleyball team defeated the Calgary Dinos in four sets on Saturday night in a Canada West match at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.
The Cougars opened the match with a 25-14 win in the first set, but Calgary replied with a 25-21 win in the second.
Regina came out flying in the third set, leading 8-1 at the first media timeout and 16-3 at the second. The Cougars ended up with a 25-15 win in the third and clinched the match with a 25-18 win in the fourth set.
“Our response from last night to tonight was exactly what we wanted from the team,” Cougars head coach
Melanie Sanford said. “It was very much a team effort tonight. Everyone did what they needed to do, and that always gives us a great chance to come out on top.”

Beth Clark led Regina with 11 kills.

Solveig Nilson, and
Kaitlyn Hughes each had eight kills for the Cougars, while Hughes added a match-high 19 digs.
Tiffany Herman had 35 assists and 13 digs to record the match's lone double-double.
Raynell Lavertu had a team-leading 11 kills for Calgary and fell just one dig short of a double-double. Bethany Enge led the Dinos with 15 digs, while Laura Spence had a match-high six total blocks.
The win improves No. 6-ranked Regina's record to 10-6. The Cougars will need to catch at least one of Brandon (12-4), Manitoba (12-5), or Alberta (12-6) for the right to host a first-round playoff series.
Calgary's record drops to 7-9 with the loss.
