The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced Wednesday that the team has signed University of Regina Rams defensive end Ryan Wellman and wide receiver Kolten Solomon (pictured) as free agents.

Wellman was named a Canada West all-star following the 2012 season after finishing fourth in the conference with 7.5 tackles for loss and also tying for the team lead with three sacks during the conference schedule. Wellman also collected a pass breakup, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and a tackle for loss in the postseason. In his career with the Rams, Wellman has picked up 66 tackles including 15 tackles for loss and six sacks in 25 Canada West games played.

Solomon, who played for the Rams in 2007 after graduating from Sheldon-Williams Collegiate, returned to the U of R last year and accumulated a team-leading four touchdown receptions during the conference schedule despite missing a game. He also finished second on the team in both receptions (36) and receiving yards (471) in Canada West play and caught five passes for 97 yards including a 59-yard touchdown in the Rams' snowy postseason victory over Saskatchewan.

Financial terms of the deals were not released. Wellman has two seasons of CIS eligibility remaining, while Solomon has one year left.
