Box Score

The University of Alberta's men's basketball team completed the weekend sweep over the Regina Cougars with an 89-60 victory on Saturday night in a Canada West game at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport.

Alberta (12-6) left little doubt about the outcome of this game from the tip, scoring 11 of the game's first 14 points to take a healthy eight-point lead by the three-minute mark of the first. The Cougars had a brief glimmer of hope when a pair of Vule Grujic free throws got them to within eight midway through the second quarter, but Daniel Ferguson nailed four three-pointers in a span of less than two minutes to help push the lead to 21.

Ferguson led Alberta for the second night in a row, scoring 21 first-half points and ending up with 27 for the game. Ferguson was 9-for-13 overall from the field and 7-for-10 from beyond the arc, giving the fifth-year guard 53 points for the weekend.

Jordan Baker had 15 points for Alberta, while Robert Dewar chipped in with 11 and Todd Bergen Henengouwen added a team-high 10 rebounds.

Vule Grujic led the Cougars (5-12) in points (15) and rebounds (14), while Paul Gareau had 10 points and Connor Burns pulled down 13 rebounds.

Alberta finishes off the conference schedule next weekend at home against Brandon, while the Cougars will visit Lethbridge next weekend and finish off the Canada West slate on Feb. 18 at Saskatchewan.
