Complete Game Notes

KICKOFF: Oct. 24 (1:00 p.m.)
SITE: McMahon Stadium (Calgary, Alta.)
CAPACITY: 46,020
RANKINGS: Regina NR, Calgary #1
REGINA RADIO: RM2 - sportscage.ca (Mitchell Blair/PxP,  Braden Konschuh/CC)
LIVE VIDEO ($): www.canadawest.tv (Dave Rowe/PxP, Tony Spoletini/CC)

• It'll be the Rams' fifth game against a CIS No. 1 team - besides the game earlier this year against Calgary, they also played at No. 1-ranked Saskatchewan in 1999, at home against Manitoba in 2002, and at Manitoba in a Canada West semifinal game in 2006
• This one won't mean a whole lot in terms of standings - Calgary has the No. 1 spot in the conference locked up and while the Rams could move up to fifth place from sixth with wins in their last two games, they wouldn't be able to catch Alberta for the fourth and final Canada West playoff berth

YARDSTICKS: The Rams are 0-6 on the season, but have actually put up more yards of offence than their opposition in five of those six Canada West games - including just last week, when they put up 560 yards to Manitoba's 533 in the heartbreaking 49-46 loss. The Rams have also outgained Alberta 532-452, UBC by a 562-346 count, had a 490-473 edge over Saskatchewan, and a 595-590 advantage over Manitoba in Week 5.

200 CLUB: Davin Johnston was named the Canada West Offensive Player of the Week after catching 13 passes for 203 yards in Week 5 at Manitoba, which was just the sixth time in the team's 16-season history at the CIS level that a player had gone for over 200 receiving yards. Not to be outdone, Mitch Thompson (barely) topped him with 11 catches for 204 yards last week to make it back-to-back games that a Rams receiver has hit the milestone. Other Rams that have collected over 200 receiving yards in a single game include Chris Bauman (twice), Neal Hughes, Addison Richards, and Jordan Sisco.

ALL ABOUT ATLEE: Atlee Simon tied the U of R's single-game record (for the third time in his career) with three touchdown runs and added 198 rushing yards in last week's game against Manitoba, helping the second-year RB jump from third to first among Canada West players in rushing yards. He's also ranked fourth in the CIS with an average of 141 rushing yards per game. Simon's total of 705 rushing yards this season is 267 short of the U of R's single-season record of 972 (Adrian Charles, 2010), while he's four rushing touchdowns short of the school record of nine which is shared by Hughes (2003) and Charles (2010).

PICTON THREATENING COMPLETIONS MARK: Noah Picton comes into Week 6 having completed 131 of his 198 pass attempts this season for 1716 yards and seven touchdowns. The second-year QB is averaging 22 completions per game and needs 52 completions in the last two games to surpass Marc Mueller's 2010 school record of 182. Mueller's mark of 182 also stands as the Canada West record (though Saskatchewan's Drew Burko tied it last season), but Picton is only one of four Canada West quarterbacks who could have a shot at that record this season - Andrew Buckley (Calgary) currently has 136, Michael O'Connor (UBC) has 128, and Theo Deezar (Manitoba) has 127.

RAMS IN THE PROS: The Rams currently boast three former players in the NFL, including DL Stefan Charles (Buffalo), DL Akiem Hicks (New England), and P Jon Ryan (Seattle). OL Brett Jones was making a push for the New York Giants' 53-man roster, but suffered a suspected MCL sprain in their final preseason game and was put on injured reserve. Four former Rams are currently on CFL active rosters, including CB Tevaughn Campbell (Calgary), SB Chris Getzlaf (Saskatchewan), LS Jorgen Hus (Saskatchewan), and OL Brendon LaBatte (Saskatchewan). WR Addison Richards remains on Winnipeg's six-game injured list.
