TEAM OVERVIEWS
REGINA – The Cougars won twice over UNBC in Prince George last weekend, defeating the Timberwolves by scores of 80-76 and 96-88 to improve their Canada West record to 5-1. That gives the team its best start since current assistant coach Joel Hunter led the Cougars to a 7-1 start back during the 2005-06 season. The story for the U of R this season has been the play of a pair of newcomers – Shawn Lathan has started all six games and is not only third on the team in scoring (13.3 points per game) but also leads the Cougars with an average of 9.3 rebounds per game, and Shaquille Harris has come off the bench to average 13.5 points and seven rebounds in his four Canada West games played. Fifth-year veterans Alex Igual, Brian Ofori, and Brandon Tull and second-year guard Benjamin Hillis round out the usual starting lineup, with both Harris and Samuel Hillis being used extensively off the bench.

LETHBRIDGE – The Pronghorns have bolted out of the gate with a perfect 8-0 record, registering weekend sweeps over Brandon, MacEwan, Mount Royal, and Thompson Rivers to start the season. A conference second-team all-star last season, Dejon Burdeaux has been even better this year and has to be considered a strong Canada West Player of the Year candidate. Burdeaux is a rarity in today's game – a smallish high-scoring guard that almost never shoots the three. Burdeaux gets most of his points by attacking the rim, is great in transition, and gets to the free throw line more than every other player in Canada West besides Calgary's Mambi Diawara.

ALL-TIME SERIES
Entering the weekend, the two teams have met 31 times in regular season play. Lethbridge holds a 19-12 advantage in the all-time series, which resumes after the Pronghorns and the Cougars didn't play last year due to Canada West's unbalanced schedule. The Cougars are 9-5 against Lethbridge in Regina.

BT UPDATE
During Saturday's game in Prince George, Brandon Tull passed Jamal Williams for ninth in the school's all-time scoring race. Tull now has 1202 career points and needs 88 more to pass Brenan Schwartz for eighth. All-time leading scorer Jeff Lukomski's record of 1504 points is likely safe unless Tull goes on an absolute tear the rest of the season, but the fifth-year guard has an excellent chance at ending up in the top five by season's end.
