TEAM OVERVIEWS
REGINA – After two road wins over Alberta last weekend the Cougars have now won eight straight games, which is tied with Winnipeg for the longest active winning streak in Canada West. Regina and Saskatchewan remain deadlocked at the top of the conference standings with identical 13-1 records and also have near-identical RPIs, with the Huskies' .6488 RPI just a few percentage points ahead of the Cougars' .6483 RPI. Regina continues to be led by the combination of Kyanna Giles and Charlotte Kot. Giles leads the team in scoring (15.9 points per game) and rebounding (8.1 per game) and also has a team-leading 36 steals, while Kot averages 13.9 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. The Cougars also get huge contributions off the bench from both Carolina Goncalves and Kyia Giles, with Goncalves averaging 10.3 points per game and Giles checking in with an average of 9.8 points per game.

BRANDON – Brandon had a strong November which saw the Bobcats play three Canada West playoff teams tough including back-to-back weekend splits with Calgary and Manitoba, but since then have suffered seven consecutive losses and are 15th in the Canada West standings with a 2-12 record.  When it's all said and done, Brandon will have played the toughest schedule of any team in the conference – they've already played six of the top eight teams in Canada West, and play the other two in the next four games including this weekend at the CKHS and next weekend at home against Saskatchewan. Brandon's player to watch is Keisha Cox, who leads the Bobcats in both scoring and rebounding.

COUGARS ADD TOPALOGLU
The Cougars made an addition to the roster this week, adding 6-4 first-year post Bilge Topaloglu. Topaloglu is from Istanbul, Turkey but holds dual citizenship with Switzerland and has represented the Swiss Confederation at both the U16 and U18 levels. She suffered a season-ending injury last April while with Fenerbahçe SK's junior team, but has recovered and could possibly make her University of Regina debut this weekend against Brandon.

THIS YEAR
Brandon visited Regina earlier this year for the Cougar Classic, losing to Windsor 69-57 before being defeated by a 107-55 margin by the Cougars on the final day of the non-conference tournament. Alexi Rowden had a big day for Regina in that win, going a perfect 7-for-7 from the field and finishing with a game-high 17 points.

QUOTABLE: COACH TAYLOR
Keys to the weekend – "Obviously we'll have to contain Keisha Cox, who's one of the better players in the conference. Their bigs are very talented with Amy Williams and Lauren Anderson down there, and we'll have to contain their size and keep them off the boards. They'll throw a lot of different defences at us – we'll see some man-to-man and different types of zones from them, so we'll have to handle that."
