ABOUT REGINA

The Cougars enjoyed one of their best seasons in program history this year, rolling to a 14-6 Canada West record and earning the No. 5 seed in the postseason despite losing all five of their double-digit scorers from last year's 11-9 team. They continued their solid season last Friday in the Canada West play-in round, winning 106-83 over Mount Royal thanks in large part to a 29-point, 12-rebound performance from Myles Hamilton and torrid perimeter shooting as the Cougars were 15-for-32 from three-point range in the victory.

ABOUT SASKATCHEWAN
The Huskies haven't played since splitting a weekend series in Regina two weekends ago, winning 102-97 over the Cougars on Friday night thanks to a superhuman fourth-quarter performance by Lawrence Moore and losing 96-88 the following night. Moore scored 24 of Saskatchewan's final 29 points in that Friday win, all of which came in the second half of the fourth quarter as he sparked a 23-5 run that gave the Huskies a come-from-behind win. Moore finished second in Canada West in scoring (19.8 points per game) while Joseph Barker's average of 9.8 rebounds per game ranks second in the conference.

COUGARS/HUSKIES SERIES
This weekend will mark the first time since 2011 that the two provincial rivals have met in the postseason. Saskatchewan won that best-of-three quarterfinal series in Saskatoon in two straight games, and the Huskies are 3-0 all-time against Regina in the postseason as they also won the Canada West third-place game over the Cougars back in 2006. Counting regular season games only, Saskatchewan holds a 31-12 advantage in the 43 Canada West and WCIAA games played between the two teams.

THE BRACKET
The higher-seeded home team won all four play-in games on the men's side last weekend, including the Cougars over Mount Royal in the 5/12 game. No. 6 Fraser Valley beat UNBC to set up a quarterfinal series at UBC, No. 7 Lethbridge's win over Victoria sends the Pronghorns to meet Alberta, and No. 8 Winnipeg's win over crosstown rival Manitoba will match the Wesmen up with top-seeded Calgary.

The Regina/Saskatchewan winner will advance to the semifinals to face the winner of the Calgary/Winnipeg quarterfinal.
