The University of Regina's women's volleyball team suffered a three-set loss to Mount Royal on Senior Night at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport on Saturday.
Mount Royal had impressive hitting numbers in the win as the Quinn Pelland-controlled offence hit .353 as a team and had five different players collect at least six kills. MRU controlled all three sets, winning by scores of 25-9, 25-12, and 25-16 to improve to 19-3 on the season.
Cassidy Kitchen led MRU with eight kills while Anna Carlson, Carly Davies, and Chantel Park all finished with seven and Nyadholi Thokbuom had six. Thokbuom also had a match-high four aces, while Pelland finished with 26 assists and Kitchen, Park, and Kassandra Hordal all had nine digs.
Already assured of a top-two seed in the Canada West postseason, Mount Royal draws within one win of Canada West-leading Trinity Western (20-2) with Saturday's victory. TWU closes out the regular season at Thompson Rivers next weekend, while MRU plays host to Winnipeg to finish off Canada West play.
Regina (2-20) was led by eight kills by
Britt Davis. Davis also tied
Annika Hufnagel and
Sierra Parris-Kruger for the team lead with six digs.
The U of R finishes off the 2019-20 campaign next weekend with a pair of matches on the road against No. 6-ranked Alberta.

Kirstin Greve played their final home matches in a U of R uniform and were honoured as part of Senior Night following Saturday's contest.
