Women's Volleyball
The Cougars women's volleyball team traveled to Calgary over the weekend for a series against Mount Royal.
Â
On Friday, Mount Royal won a close first set 25-23, but then the Cougars got hot, winning the second set 25-19, the third 25-20 and the fourth 25-20 to win 3-1.

Jordy McEachern led the Cougars in kills (14), aces (4) and digs (16) and also added 4 blocks. After this weekends games, McEachern is now tied for second in Canada West with 149 total kills.

The Cougars were able to keep up their momentum on Saturday, winning a back and forth first set 25-22, then winning the second and third sets to win 3-0.

McEachern had game highs in kills (14) and digs (12).
Zoey Thompson had 5 blocks, and is now tied for fourth in Canada West with 44 total blocks on the year.

The Cougars enter the winter break with a 4-8 record. They will continue their Canada West schedule when they host the #1 ranked Alberta Pandas on Jan. 9
th and Jan. 10
th.

Women's Hockey
The Cougars women's hockey team took on the University of Manitoba Bisons in Winnipeg over the weekend.

The Bisons came out swinging, scoring 3 goals in the 1
st period. The Cougars battled back in the 2
nd.
Pippy Pritchard scored their first goal of the game with 3 minutes to go in the frame, then
Cassidy Peters scored less than a minute into the 3
rd to make it 3-2 for the Bisons.
Â
However, a series of Cougars penalties allowed the Bisons to score two power play goals in the 3
rd, and they held on to win 5-2.
Â
Peters also had an assist, while
Kaylee Dyer had 2, giving them each two points on the night.
Amy Swayze had 38 saves in net.
Â
Saturday's game was another close contest. The Cougars opened the scoring in the 1
st when
Olivia Leggett scored an unassisted power play goal. However, the Bisons scored the next two, and led 2-1 after the 2
nd period.

The 3
rd period was action packed.
Shaylee Scraba tied the game for the Cougars 8:34 into the frame, then
Kaitlyn Gilroy scored less than three minutes later to give the Cougars the lead. However, the Bisons were able to tie the game in the dying minutes to send the game into overtime.

After a scoreless overtime period, the game headed to a shootout. The Cougars could not pull it out and lost 4-3.

Pippy Pritchard, and
Kaylee Dyer all had assists for the Cougars.
Natalie Williamson had 26 saves in net.

The Cougars fall to 5-6-3 and sit in 4
th place in the East division. They will continue their Canada West schedule against Saskatchewan. They will head up to Saskatoon to take on the Huskies on Friday, Dec. 5, before hosting them in Regina on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 7:00 PM.

Women's Basketball
The Cougars women's basketball team hosted Mount Royal over the weekend.
Â
On Friday, the Cougars started hot, scoring 24 points in the 1
st quarter and held Mount Royal to just 13. They took a 44-24 lead into halftime, and won 78-48.
Â
Taylor Gottselig led the Cougars with 14 points.
Izzi Fust added 11.
Eden Wells and
Cara Misskey both had a game high 8 assists.
Â
Saturday was more of the same for the Cougars. They held Mount Royal to 22 first half points and cruised to a 70-46 victory.
Â
Misskey did most of the heavy lifting for the home side, scoring 23 points to go along with 7 rebounds, 11 assists and 4 steals. Wells added 12 points and 7 rebounds.
Heading into the winter break, the Cougars are 10-0 in Canada West play and are currently ranked #7 in U SPORTS.
Â
They will head to Calgary in the New Year for an important matchup against the #4 ranked Dinos on Friday, Jan. 9 and Saturday, Jan. 10.

Men's Hockey
The Cougars men's hockey team hosted the University of Manitoba Bisons this weekend.
Â
On Friday, both teams went back and forth all game, but a Bisons power-play goal in the 3
rd period was the difference, and they took it 3-2.

Matt Culling and
Carter Belitski were the goal-scorers for the Cougars.
Damon Cunningham had 23 saves in net.
Â
Saturday's game was another close contest. The Bisons opened up the scoring in the 1
st, but
Matt Culling responded with his second goal of the weekend to tie the game. Then,
Jaxon Steele scored a power-play goal, and the Cougars led 2-1 after the 1
st.

Manitoba scored the lone goal in the 2
nd. Thirty-six seconds into the 3
rd,
Brayden Barnett scored an unassisted goal to give the Cougars the lead once again, but the Bisons scored two unanswered goals to take it 4-3.

Blake Heward had 2 assists in the loss.
Damon Cunningham got the start once again in net and had 33 saves.
Â
Next up, the Cougars will host the Saskatchewan Huskies on Friday, Dec. 5, before heading up to Saskatoon for the rematch on Saturday, Dec. 6.

Men's Basketball
The Cougars men's basketball team was at home this weekend and hosted Mount Royal.
Â
On Friday, the Cougars trailed 34-27 at the half, but a 20-6 3
rd quarter gave them the lead and they closed it out to win 68-50.
Â
Sufyan Elkannan led the Cougars with 18 points.
Isaiah Bay also had double digits with 11.
Kaz Dornstauder and
Cade Mather each had 9 rebounds in the win.
Â
The Cougars got out to a good start on Saturday and led 47-33 at half, but were outscored 45-29 in the 2
nd half and fell 78-76.

Lodie Kenyi and
Gurech Gurech led the Cougars with 13 points a piece, Kenyi added a team-high 7 assists.

The Cougars are 4-6 at the halfway point in the season and sit in 7
th place in the Prairie Division. In the New Year, they will head to Calgary for an important series against the Dinos on Jan. 9 and Jan. 10.

Swimming
The Cougars swimming team was in Lethbridge for the Canada West Swimming Championships, which took place from November 28-30
th.
