QUICKLY
  • Shelaine Pritchard hit a U SPORTS standard in the long jump, the women's 4x200-metre relay squad broke its own school record and qualified for the U SPORTS Championships, and the Cougars combined for 30 personal-best performances as the University of Regina's track & field teams opened the 2026 calendar year at the Sanderson Classic this weekend in Saskatoon.

WOMEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
  • Competing in the long jump for the first time this season, Pritchard opened with a jump of 5.98 metres, which stood as her best of the event and exactly matched this season's U SPORTS standard. Along with Calgary's Sienna MacDonald and Guelph's Rebecca Parker, Pritchard is one of three U SPORTS athletes to have met the national standard in the long jump this season.
  • Pritchard was also part of the 4x200 relay team alongside Kaidyn Keith, Heidi Branning, and Queen Clayton. The quartet finished in a time of 1:39.77, which not only hit the U SPORTS standard but also broke the school record of 1:40.12 that the same group set at last year's Canada West Championships.
  • Keith and Faith Adebogun also recorded second-place individual finishes. Keith was runner-up in the triple jump (11.38m), while Adebogun placed second in the weight throw (14.00m).

MEN'S HIGHLIGHTS
NEXT UP
  • The Cougars will head to Edmonton next weekend for the Golden Bear Open, hosted by the University of Alberta on Friday and Saturday.
