Jackson Wingert fired a three-under 68 on Sunday and followed that up with a one-under 70 on Monday to claim the individual championship at the University of Lethbridge Fall Invitational at Paradise Canyon Golf Club in Lethbridge, Alta.
Wingert's victory gives the Cougars two individual champions in as many events this season after
Reece Kuski took top spot at the Cougar Cup Invitational at Deer Valley earlier this month.
Wingert finished the two-day event at four-under par, earning a one-shot victory over Alberta's Seth Mottershead-Yee. Mottershead-Yee placed second at three-under with a total score of 139, while Lethbridge's Brennan Tailfeathers finished third at even par.
Kuski finished just outside the top 10, placing 12th overall with an eight-over total of 150.
Carter Bell (+14) and
Hudson Heistad (+16) finished 19th and 20th, respectively, for the Cougars.
On the women's side,
Caitlin McGregor shot a 103 on Sunday and a 104 on Monday to finish as the U of R's top golfer. The first-year golfer from Swift Current placed 14th overall.
The Cougars will return to action next weekend at the University of Alberta Invitational, set for Sept. 27 and Sept. 28 in Stony Plain, Alta. The event will serve as Regina's final tune-up before the Canada West Golf Championships on Oct. 5 and Oct. 6 back in Lethbridge.
