The University of Regina's women's volleyball team returns home this weekend for a rare Saturday/Sunday series against the Simon Fraser Clan.
The Cougars are coming off a road split against Trinity Western last weekend. The U of R took a straight-sets victory on Friday, but the Spartans replied with a three-set win of their own less than 24 hours later.
The split moved Regina's Canada West record to 7-5, which puts the Cougars in fifth place in the conference – just one win behind fourth-place Brandon. A top-four finish would assure the Cougars of their first home playoff game since 1989.
Fifth-year middle
Beth Clark continues to lead the Cougars in several statistical categories. Clark leads the team in kills (135), hitting percentage (.341), and total blocks (46). Her .341 hitting percentage ranks No. 2 in the conference, while her average of 1.1 blocks per set ranks No. 3 in Canada West.
Third-year setter
Tiffany Herman sits fourth in the conference with an average of 8.98 assists per set, while
Meagan Onstad is second on the team with 118 kills and has a team-leading 111 digs for the season.
Simon Fraser (1-12) is led by Colleen Douville's 148 kills and .229 hitting percentage, while Krystyna Adams has 128 kills over the team's first 13 games of the season. The Clan recorded their lone win back on Nov. 21 in a four-set victory over Saskatchewan. This will likely be the Clan's last trip to Regina, as Simon Fraser is reclassifying to NCAA Div. II next season and will be a member of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.
Regina and Simon Fraser have met 12 times since the Clan joined Canada West in 2002, with the Cougars enjoying a 10-2 advantage.

The two teams will meet at 1 p.m. on Saturday afternoon and 12 p.m. on Sunday.
