Cougars finish in fourth place at Unruh Realty Challenge

The University of Regina's women's volleyball team finished in fourth place over the weekend at the five-team Unruh Realty Challenge hosted by the University of Winnipeg.

The Cougars split their two games on Friday, losing in five sets to Manitoba in the morning before winning three convincing sets out of four against Lakehead to notch their first victory of the non-conference schedule. They then lost a pair of four-set decisions on Saturday, first to Brandon and then to host Winnipeg.

The Cougars and Brandon then matched up again in the third-place match on Sunday morning. Brandon took the match by a 3-1 score, including a pivotal third-set victory which saw the Bobcats outlast the Cougars in an epic 31-29 battle.

NEXT UP
After playing in 10 matches in two non-conference tournaments over the past two weekends, the Cougars will have next weekend off before closing out the preseason with a pair of road matches at Saskatchewan on Oct. 11 and Oct. 12. They'll then get ready for their Canada West season openers, which they'll host at the Centre for Kinesiology, Health & Sport on Oct. 18 and Oct. 19.
