Jackson Wingert shot an opening-round 78 and followed that up with a 79 to finish as the top University of Regina golfer at the Canada West Championships on Monday and Tuesday at the par-70 Ledgeview Golf Club in Abbotsford, B.C.

Wingert finished at 17-over to place 30th out of 48 entrants in the men's division.

Morgan McKay shot an opening-day 97, but shaved eight strokes off that score in Tuesday's round as she finished with an 89. The lone golfer on the women's side for the Cougars, McKay finished in 25th place in the individual standings.

Micah Tangjerd (+23), Carter Bell (+28), Reece Hodson (+30), and Jaxon Eberts (+32) rounded out the scorers for the men's squad, which finished in ninth place in the team standings.
