In 1987, Bob McDougall became the University of Regina’s first national champion after finishing in first place in the 57-kilogram class at the CIAU Championships. He was a four-time All-Canadian, as he finished in second place at 61 kg in both 1988 and 1989 with the U of R in addition to a second-place finish at 54 kg in 1982 while with Lakehead University. McDougall was named the University of Regina Male Athlete of the Year in 1987.
