Glen Nelson was a five-year member of the Cougars during a career that began in 1980-81 and finished with a 1984-85 campaign that saw him earn Great Plains Athletic Conference first-team all-star honours. He wrapped up his CIAU career as the U of R's all-time leading scorer and his total of 1422 points scored stood as the school record for over 25 years. Nelson also earned GPAC second-team all-star honours following his third and fourth seasons with the Cougars. Also an inductee into the Regina Sports Hall of Fame, Nelson went on to play professionally in Australia, Germany, and Austria for three seasons in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
