Kelly Wiebe's long list of accomplishments at the U of R is highlighted by his final season with the Cougars, when he won the individual title at the 2012 CIS Cross Country Championships and then took gold in the 3000-metre run at the 2013 CIS Track & Field Championships. He was the top Canada West finisher at three different national cross country meets, a four-time Canada West gold medalist in the 3000-metre run, and won both the University of Regina President's Award and the University of Regina Male Athlete of the Year in 2013.

He was part of three conference championship-winning teams at the U of R, helping the Cougars win the Canada West cross country title in 2009 and track & field championships in both 2010 and 2011. Wiebe, who represented Canada at multiple international events, went on to run professionally before retiring from competition in early 2016. He was inducted into the Canada West Hall of Fame in 2020.

Wiebe was the first cross country student-athlete and the second men's track & field student-athlete to be inducted into the University of Regina Sports Hall of Fame.
